Lucky K. Lucky, a former police officer who sued the city of Signal Hill for racial discrimination after he was fired in 1982, has agreed to drop his lawsuit in exchange for an undisclosed amount of money. Lucky, who is black, filed a $75-million suit in federal court, charging that his firing was “racially motivated” and that he has suffered emotional and economic injuries as a result. Although attorneys for Signal Hill and four additional defendants agreed to settle the case on the grounds that the amount of the settlement be kept secret, sources close to the case say the amount is less than $50,000.
