Westair Airlines begins flights to Fresno.
The Chico-based airline began service in Orange County on Thursday, with three-times-daily flights from John Wayne Airport to the Central California city. Nine passengers boarded the inaugural 8:15 a.m. commuter flight to Fresno, the first such commercial air service between the two points since Far West Airlines suspended operations in December. In the last two years, three airlines serving the Fresno-Orange County route have failed due to financial problems.
