Letters : In Defense of Hollywood Blvd.
Out of the hundreds of thriving businesses along Hollywood Boulevard, I found it quite disconcerting that the photo chosen to accompany the article “A Star-Crossed Walkway--Fading Avenue Still Lures Fans, Celebrities “ (Times, Jan. 27) was that of one of two porno shops still left on the Walk of Fame. The title chosen for the article is also a misrepresentation. Numerous office buildings and retail businesses have been upgraded and modernized, and currently, if you observe the length of Hollywood Boulevard, you can’t help but notice many more historically significant buildings being restored, the most exciting being the complete multimillion-dollar restoration of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Fading avenue? Quite the contrary. I hope in fairness that you’ll soon see fit to tell what’s really happening on Hollywood Boulevard.
