Freeway League : Troy Defense Shuts Down Buena Park in 50-42 Upset
Troy High School’s tough man-to-man defense limited Buena Park to only four points in the second quarter Friday night and the Warriors went on to upset the first-place Coyotes, 50-42, in a Freeway League game played at Buena Park.
The upset win was the second straight for Troy (4-4 in league and 8-12 overall). Wednesday, the Warriors upset second-place Fullerton.
Buena Park (6-2, 12-8) was limited to only 18 field goals in 48 attempts and were outrebounded, 29-21.
Shaun Flynn led Troy with 14 points and Mike McGrath and Greg Nelson each had 10. Rebbie Brown led Buena Park with 18.

Sonora 45, Sunny Hills 36--The Raiders made 13 of 19 free throw attempts in the last quarter to remain in a third-place tie with Troy for the final playoff spot. Guard Steve Carbajal scored 6 of his 13 points in the last quarter, including all 4 of his free throw attempts.
It was also a defensive win for the Raiders. Sonora’s Mike Samuelson limited Sunny Hills forward Dexter Jenkins to only six points. Jenkins averages 13.4 points per game. The Raiders are 4-4 in league play and 7-12 overall. Sunny Hills fell to 3-5 and 9-13.

Fullerton 87, La Habra 50--The Indians had five players score in double figures as they easily handled the Highlanders at home. R.J. Hamblin led Fullerton (5-3) with 15 points. Brett Harill added 12 points. La Habra’s (2-6) only bright spot was guard Tony Sciacca who scored 10 points. Fullerton’s Richard Carnesi had a season-high 12 assists.
