Laguna Beach : Worker Called ‘Lucky’ in 12,000-Volt Incident
A Harbor City construction worker was being called “real lucky†Friday after he suffered only minor injuries when a piece of pipe he was handling struck a 12,000-volt power line in downtown Laguna Beach.
Apparently, the pipe Joseph Legler was hoisting to the top of Laguna Federal Savings and Loan grounded itself on the building, and Legler suffered only minor burns on his hands, Fire Chief Ron Adams said.
“If he was holding onto that pipe, he is real lucky to be alive,†Adams said. “That 12,000 volts will do a real number on you.â€
Legler works for a Monterey Park air-conditioning firm.
