A La Jolla woman was struck and killed early Wednesday as she was crossing La Jolla Boulevard, a San Diego police spokesman said. Betty Mitchell, 74, was struck by a northbound car about 6:20 a.m. as she was crossing the street in the 5300 block. She was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital, where she died about 1:45 p.m. Police said the driver of the car was questioned but not arrested.
