Construction is expected to begin in May on the Mark Taper Building, a projected 105-bed, skilled-nursing facility to be located at Grancell Village on a 14-acre residential campus of the Jewish Homes for the Aging of Greater Los Angeles.
The three-story building at 18855 Victory Blvd., Reseda, is the first phase of a master plan for three new nursing facilities to be financed through a $10-million capital facilities campaign. The project is expected to double the patient capacity of Grancell Village by the end of the decade.
The Los Angeles-based firm of Widom/Wein & Partners has been awarded the design contract for the facility that honors philanthropist Mark Taper. The Mark Taper Foundation provided a major gift to assist with that phase.
The 44,000-square-foot structure will have a centralized nurses’ station for easy visibility and each floor will house recreation and dining facilities. The ground level will have an adjacent courtyard with accessible decks on the second and third floors.
