Kruse Elected to Top Post of State General Contractors
Robert E. Kruse, president of Kruse Construction of Sun Valley, has been elected president of the Associated General Contractors of California, succeeding Robert L. Balliet, president of Balliet Bros. Construction Corp. of San Francisco.
Other newly elected officers include M. B. McGowan, president of J. H. Pomeroy Co. Inc. of Petaluma, senior vice president; Al Shankle, president of Al Shankle Construction Co. of Anaheim, vice president, and Alfred V. Otjen, vice president of Granite Construction Co. of Watsonville, treasurer.
Richard B. Munn, executive vice president, will continue as secretary of the 1,700-member association. Its member firms perform nearly 80% of all non-residential construction dollar volume in California.
Kruse is a third-generation contractor who has been in construction management for 30 years. He has served on the Associated General Contractors’ state board since 1975 and is currently chairman of the Laborers Health & Welfare Trust and the Laborers Pension.
