Ex-Governor in Venezuela Faces Arres
CARACAS, Venezuela — An arrest warrant was issued Friday for the former governor of the federal district around Caracas, bringing to seven the number of officials jailed or investigated this year for crimes against the state.
Former Gov. Rodolfo Jose Cardenas, who reportedly is out of the country, was named in a warrant that accused his department of irregularities in a $1.7-million payment for highway work.
Authorities are still seeking former Transport and Communications Minister Vinicio Carrera, who last year fled the country hours after a judge let him out of the jail where he was being held on charges of improper use of funds.
