Community College Basketball : Middleton, Garner Lead Valley Past Marauders

The L.A. Valley College Monarchs improved their Mountain Valley Conference record to 2-1 by defeating Antelope Valley College, 82-67, Wednesday night in Van Nuys.
The Monarchs opened the second half by scoring six unanswered points to expand their nine-point halftime advantage by six points. Antelope Valley cut the deficit to eight with two minutes remaining, but that was as close the Marauders come.
Valley, which is 12-7 overall, was paced by Larry Middleton, the game’s leading scorer with 26 points. Glen Boss finished with 24 and Jessie Garner added 18 for the Monarchs. The Marauders, who are 11-12 overall and 1-2 in the conference, were led by Darryl Lewis’ 20 points.
