Suspected Cocaine Dealer Slain

A suspected cocaine smuggler was shot and killed by a federal drug agent early today after a high speed car chase in Santa Fe Springs, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department reported. The 48-year-old suspect’s name was withheld pending notification of relatives.

The suspect tried to run over the agent with his car as the officer approached, authorities said, then drove off. The agent pursued in his car, stopped the suspect and then fired several shots when the suspect tried to escape, according to the spokesman.
