Countywide : 2 Supervisors Take Oaths for New Terms
Supervisors Roger Stanton and Bruce Nestande were sworn in for new, four-year terms Monday in a family-oriented ceremony at the county Hall of Administration.
Both men, beginning their second terms, took the oath of office from their wives as mothers, in-laws, children and close friends looked on, along with an audience of top-level county employees and about 150 business and political leaders.
“This ceremony marks not an end, or a beginning, but a continuation of a steady, continuous, common-sense approach to governing this, the second most populous county in California,†Stanton said, adding that county government in the next several years “must re-emphasize a commitment to competency.â€
As in past years, Nestande emphasized the need to preserve Orange County’s life style over the next several years, “so that we grow in a manner that is not going to destroy this county.â€
“The wheel of time keeps turning. Nothing we can do about that,†Nestande said. “What we can do is make sure it moves in the right direction.â€
