Norway charged that a Soviet cruise missile launched from a submarine in the Barents Sea flew over Norwegian and Finnish territory last Friday before coming down in Finland. In Helsinki, Finland’s Defense Ministry and air force said a “flying object” penetrated its airspace and disappeared over Lake Inari in northern Finland, close to the Soviet border. Norway, a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, said that its radar tracking stations identified the object as a cruise missile by its size and speed.
