Amir Ali Patterson, a junior from Crespi, threw a lifetime best 62 feet, 8 inches to qualify first in the boys shot put at the state prelims in Clovis.
As if that wasn’t impressive enough, he had a lifetime best effort in the discus, with a throw of 182-6 to place fifth and qualify for Saturday’s finals.
