The speed of Reno Rankin has helped No. 2-seeded Reseda Cleveland take a 2-0 lead over Marshall after the first inning of the City Section Division I semifinal at USC.
Rankin lined a two-out single, stole second, then came home when Marshall’s first baseman couldn’t handle a ground ball, resulting in an error.
Harley Faye followed with a single and Jack Hartman delivered an RBI double off pitcher Angel Lerma.
Steven Perez had a one-two-three first inning for Cleveland on the mound.
