At this time last season, left-hander Max Fried was preparing to pitch in a high school playoff game for Studio City Harvard-Westlake.
Now he’s pitching in the minor leagues for the San Diego Padres organization after being a first-round draft pick (No. 7 overall), and he’s thriving.
He has a scoreless innings streak of 11 2/3 innings pitching for Class A Fort Wayne.
