Volleyball: Loyola-Mira Costa showdown is on April 12

Mark it down on your calendar. On Friday, April 12, at 7 p.m. at Loyola Marymount, Loyola High School will take on Mira Costa in their annual boys’ volleyball showdown.
It’s not just any sporting event. It’s for supremacy in the South Bay, even though Loyola is far away from the beach. Lots of Loyola players live in the area, and it makes for one of the most entertaining nights of the sports season.
Loyola is ranked No. 2 and Mira Costa is No. 3 in the latest Southern Section Division 1 volleyball poll with two weeks to go before the match.
Just watching the crowd is entertaining enough, let alone the intensity of the players involved.
