Stony Brook has become the talk of college baseball after taking down SEC power Louisiana State to advance to the College World Series. And there’s a big Southern California connection.
Standout senior pitcher Tyler Johnson comes from Encino Crespi. He threw a three-hitter on Saturday to beat LSU, 3-1. He’s 12-1 on the season. Also on the team are two other Crespi grads, Josh Mason and Michael Hubbard.
And one of Stony Brook’s top starting pitchers is from La Puente Bishop Amat, Brandon McNitt.
The SoCal kids have helped create quite a story line for Stony Brook.
