Football: Santa Margarita, Alemany win tournaments

Santa Margarita and Mission Hills Alemany, expeted to be top football teams this fall, won seven-on-seven passing tournaments on Saturday.
Santa Margarita, which returns 10 starters on offense, defeated Long Beach Poly in the championship match of its eight-team tournament.
Quarterback Johnny Stanton and safety Connor O’Brien were the standouts. O’Brien had four interceptions on the day.
Alemany won the Pierce tournament, defeating Valencia in the championship game in triple overtime. Alemany defeated Crespi in the semifinals.
Quarterback Devon Dunn and receiver Steven Mitchell led the Warriors.
Santa Margarita and Alemany will be playing in next Saturday’s Dana Hills passing tournament.
