Baseball: El Camino Real receives No. 1 seeding

Woodland Hills El Camino Real (18-12) has been selected as the No. 1 seeded team for the City Section Division I baseball playoffs that begin Friday with wild-card games.The Conquistadors shared the West Valley League title with Chatsworth but won a coin flip to be the league’s No. 1 representative.
Chatsworth is No. 2, San Fernando No. 3 and San Pedro No. 4.
First-round games are Tuesday, quarterfinals next Thursday and a semifinal doubleheader will be played at USC on May 31. The championship game is Saturday, June 2, at 1 p.m. at Dodger Stadium.
Wild-card games Friday: No. 17 Marshall at No. 16 Banning, No. 20 Arleta at No. 13 Garfield, No. 19 Hamilton at No. 14 Granada Hills and No. 18 Bell at No. 15 Sylmar.
The first-round matchups Tuesday will be:
Marshall or Banning at No. 1 El Camino Real
No. 9 Roosevelt at No. 8 Verdugo Hills
No. 12 Cleveland at No. 5 Kennedy
Garfield or Arleta at No. 4 San Pedro
Granada Hills or Hamilton at No. 3 San Fernando
No. 11 Birmingham at No. 6 Palisades
No. 10 Narbonne at No. 7 Taft
Sylmar or Bell at No. 2 Chatsworth
