Baseball: Huntington Beach, Mission Viejo reach championship games

Adam Daymude hit a two-run home run, Jake Caron hit a solo home run and Christian Abe threw a complete game to lift Huntington Beach past Tesoro, 5-2, in a semifinal game of the Newport Elks tournament.
Huntington Beach is 4-0 and will play Esperanza or Palm Desert in its division final on Friday.
Mission Viejo (4-0) advanced to the championship game of its division with a 4-2 victory over La Habra. Anthony Shew threw a complete game with six strikeouts and Kieran Lovegrove went two for three with a home run.

In the Poly tournament, L.A. Cathedral defeated Wilson, 14-1. Adrian Garcia had three hits. Cathedral plays San Fernando on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Birmingham.
