Baseball: Scout George Genovese to have race named in his honor

Longtime Southern California baseball scout George Genovese will be honored by Santa Anita on Saturday with the naming of the 10th race, ‘Happy 90th George Genovese.’

Genovese and a group of former major league players will celebrate his 90th birthday in the track’s Turf Club.

Genovese began scouting in 1964. He turns 90 on Feb. 22. He is a member of the Baseball Scouts Hall of Fame and lives in the San Fernando Valley.
