Boys’ basketball: Ronny Price hits game-winner for Fairfax

Ronny Price made the only three-pointer of the night for Fairfax with 1:05 left, connecting on a baseline jumper, giving the Lions a 32-30 win over Lakewood Mayfair in a Redondo tournament quarterfinal game that saw both schools struggle to score.

Mayfair had a 16-4 lead at the outset of the second quarter, then started missing shot after shot. Landon Drew led the Lions’ comeback with 11 points. Fairfax will face Long Beach Poly in Friday’s semifinals. Poly defeated Santa Monica, 61-35. Westchester defeated Dominguez, 66-52.

In the Pasadena tournament, La Verne Lutheran defeated Corona Roosevelt, 62-43. Grant Jerrett had 17 points and 12 rebounds. Eric Cooper had 15 points. Sophomore Ajon Efferson, a transfer from Taft, scored 34 points in Pasadena’s 69-59 win over Leuzinger.

Westlake improved to 2-0 with an 84-52 win over Camarillo. Joshua Brooks had 20 points. Brentwood is 3-0 after Leland King scored 23 points in a 71-50 win over Carson.

Freshman Tyler Dorsey scored 33 points in Ribet’s 81-53 win over Arroyo Valley.

Standout junior point guard London Perrantes had 20 points and 10 assists in Crespi’s 70-60 win over Oak Park. Ron Lee Jr. had 20 points for Oak Park.

L.A. Windward, missing some key players still playing football, was routed by Oaks Christian, 75-49, in a nonleague opener.

In the El Modena tournament, Gabe York scored 21 points in Orange Lutheran’s 60-50 win over Crenshaw. The game was tied, 29-29, at halftime. Brandon Baker had 18 points for Crenshaw.

In the Campbell Hall tournment, Arvis Greene scored 22 points as L.A. University defeated La Salle, 62-38.

In the Burbank tournament, Simi Valley Royal (2-0) defeated Bell-Jeff, 73-42. Scott Woods had 14 points and five blocked shots.

In the Simi Valley tournament, El Camino Real defeated West Ranch, 55-51. Maleke Haynes had 23 points. Ventura received 13 points from Nick Rudolph in a 60-53 win over Verdugo Hills. Terrell Funches had 29 points in Chatsworth’s 75-67 win over Rio Mesa. Sierra Canyon defeated Simi Valley, 86-73. Jahmel Taylor scored 33 points.
