For once, the small schools will be in the spotlight on Saturday night at Granada Hills High, when the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the Southern Section East Valley Division face off. It will be Chatsworth Sierra Canyon (8-0) taking on Lancaster Paraclete (7-1).

Tyler Stewart, Sierra Canyon’s senior quarterback, has passed for 1,259 yards and 24 touchdowns with one interception. You can expect Paraclete to try to put the pressure on Stewart, who has been succeeding despite injuries to his receiving corp. Julian Brooks, a standout receiver, might not play Saturday because of a toe injury.

Paraclete will rely on its aggressive defense and ability to run the ball and control the clock.

It’s a critical game for both schools, but Sierra Canyon, in particular, has much at stake while trying to stay a leading candidate for a bowl berth from Southern California.
