Los Angeles Loyola was denied a state track championship because of a disqualification in the pole vault, but the Cubs won the Nike Track Nationals in Eugene, Ore., last weekend.

Shot putter Nick Budincich had a personal best of 61-10 1/2. Distance runner Elias Gedyon ran the third-fastest 1,500-meter time in the nation.
