Twenty-nine schools have been placed in City Section Division I for the fall football season, based on their Maxpreps.com ranking over the last two years. Thirty schools were placed in Division II.
The football advisory committee is scheduled to meet on Friday to give final approval to the alignments.
This is the first time that the City Section will not be allowing individual schools to choose what division they want to participate in. The only schools that can appeal their placement are the final five schools placed in Division I and the first five schools placed in Division II.
The last five schools in Division I are Marshall, Kennedy, Palisades, Roosevelt and South East. They can appeal to drop down. The first five schools in Division II are Bell, Cleveland, Banning, San Fernando and Jefferson. They can appeal to move up.
Among the big changes, Palisades, Marshall, Fairfax, Arleta, Hamilton, El Camino Real, Reseda, Roosevelt, Chatsworth and Poly move up to Division I. San Fernando drops to Division II.
