Anaheim Esperanza scored 20 runs in its second-round Southern Section Division 1 playoff victory over Newbury Park, and the Aztecs will need to keep hitting against No. 2-seeded Santa Ana Mater Dei on Friday in the quarterfinals.

The Monarchs have what many believe is the best hitting attack in the Southland, led by junior Ty Moore, who has a school-record 50 hits.

Esperanza will turn to senior pitcher Austin Pettibone (7-4) in an attempt to slow down the Monarchs.
