Boys’ basketball: Fairfax knocks off L.A. University

Los Angeles Fairfax picked up a 52-41 Western League victory over Los Angeles University on Wednesday. Laik Carter scored 22 points and had 18 rebounds for the Lions (14-8, 6-4). David Nwaba scored 26 points for University (21-7, 6-3).

In the West Valley League, Taft defeated Chatsworth, 53-46. Stephen Maxwell scored 14 points for the Toreadors. In the Coliseum League, Crenshaw defeated Locke, 83-38.

In the Mission League, Crespi defeated Alemany, 67-62. Matt Mounier had 25 points for the Celts (19-6, 7-3). Marqueze Coleman led Alemany (16-9, 6-4) with 23 points.

Harvard-Westlake (21-2, 9-0) and Los Angeles Loyola (18-5, 8-2) set up a Friday showdown at Loyola with victories. Harvard-Westlake defeated Chaminade, 50-44. Loyola defeated Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 78-69, with Julian Harrell scoring 22 points and Joe Stein 19.

In the Trinity League, Santa Ana Mater Dei defeated Anaheim Servite, 85-43. Xavier Johnson and Katin Reinhardt had 22 points apiece. Reinhardt made five three-pointers. Bellflower St. John Bosco defeated Santa Margarita, 51-40, with Cezar Guerrero scoring 19 points.
