Before Monday’s basketball game between Washington and Manual Arts, I took a photo of the two coaches because it was a rare meeting of former City Section players of the year.
Washington Coach Leonard Johnson was the City 3-A player of the year in 1978 at Fairfax. Manual Arts Coach Dwayne Polee Sr. was the City 4-A player of the year in 1981 at Manual Arts.
Who would you pick in a one-on-one game between the two?
‘I’ll beat him,’ Johnson said.
Well, Washington did beat Manual Arts, 80-40.
