Baseball: Matzek, Hobgood working way up in minors

Two pitchers who were first-round draft picks in 2009 _ Tyler Matzek from Mission Viejo Capistrano Valley and Matt Hobgood from Norco _ are fully engaged in their professional careers.
Matzek, a member of the Colorado Rockies organization, is 2-1 with a 2.50 ERA for class-A Ashville. He’s got 55 strikeouts in 54 innings. Here’s a link to a story on his professional debut earlier this year.Hobgood, taken by the Baltimore Orioles, is 3-7 with a 4.14 ERA for class-A Delmarva. He has thrown 71 1/3 innings this season.
