El Toro High pitcher Kristi Denny was hit in the forehead by a batted ball that her catcher estimated was traveling ‘100 miles per hour’ on Friday at the Faster to First Tournament in Huntington Beach.
Denny underwent six hours of surgery and doctors had to build her a new forehead out of titanium mesh.
The 15-year-old was wearing a face mask, which doctors say saved her life.
