Football: It’s time for Loyola to name a coach

I’ve never seen a high school take more time to hire a football coach than Los Angeles Loyola, which should finally name a new coach this week.

The Cubs could care less if alumni are growing impatient. They put together a process and are sticking with it. But since Jeff Kearin’s resignation was announced on Oct. 3, that’s five months Loyola has had to find a permanent coach.

Of course, everyone won’t care as long as the selection is the right one. Most people expect an ex-Loyola assistant to get the job, but there are outside candidates, such as Carson Coach Mike Christensen, whose son attends Loyola.

All I can say is that it’s time to act. Spring practice is near and the fans are getting restless.
