Girls’ basketball: Great upcoming tournaments

Two great basketball tournaments that showcase some of the top squads in the Southland begin Monday and continue through Saturday.

The Ladycat Classic hosted by Brea Olinda features 12 teams: the host team, JSerra, Fairfax, Hanford, Canyon Springs, Keppel, Summit, Santa Monica, Riverside Poly, El Dorado Hills Oak Ridge, Alemany and Narbonne.

The Inglewood City of Champions Holiday Classic features 28 teams: the host team, Sierra Canyon, Venice, Long Beach Wilson, Westchester, Monroe, Chatsworth, Peninsula, Long Beach Jordan, South East, Bishop Montgomery, Morningside, Mira Costa, Bell-Jeff, Washington, Culver City, Huntington Park, St. Bernard, South Torrance, Beverly Hills, Marlborough, Taft, Sun Valley Poly, St. Mary’s Academy, Serra, King-Drew, Redondo and Long Beach Poly.

Monday’s schedule for the Ladycat Classic:

2:45 p.m.: Canyon Springs vs. Keppel

4:30 p.m.: Narbonne vs. Alemany

6:15 p.m.: Brea Olinda vs. JSerra

8:00 p.m.: Santa Monica vs. Riverside Poly
