North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake, expected to be one of the top teams in the San Fernando Valley, will not be at full strength when the Wolverines open their season Monday in the Redondo tournament against Torrance Bishop Montgomery at 7 o’clock.

Standout guard Austin Kelly is still recovering from knee surgery and won’t be available until mid-December. Sophomore guard Josh Hearlihy is not expected to play this season because of a fracture in his back.

Of course, the good news is that Harvard-Westlake’s basketball players playing football could become immediately available because the Wolverines face Oaks Christian on Friday in a playoff game.
