Football: Defenses dominating for Hart and Hueneme

It’s halftime at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita where Hueneme is clinging to a 9-7 lead over host Hart in the first round of the Northern Division playoffs.

As the score would indicate, the defenses have dominated so far.
Quarterback C.J. Reyes is 9-of-17 passing for 108 yards with one touchdown and one interception for Hart, which has been unable to establish any sort of ground game. Running back Jake Stephens has run the ball eight times for minus 20 yards.

Hueneme quarterback Jonathan Barnfather is 14-of-20 for 118 yards, one touchdown and one interception, but leading rusher Trashaun Nixon has been limited to 20 yards on eight carries.

Each team had seven first downs.

Hueneme will get the ball first in the second half.
