Gilles Dierickx, a 6-foot-11 junior basketball player at West Hills Chaminade, figures to be an intriguing prospect this season.

He arrived last January from Belgium to live with a family two minutes from Chaminade, according to Coach Todd Wolfson. And he’s good.

‘He’s really long and lanky and can shoot the three,’ Wolfson said.

Dierickx speaks six different languages and has a 3.5 grade-point average. He’s going to play junior varsity until he becomes eligible to play on varsity sometime in January during Mission League play.

But once he’s eligible, Wolfson believes he’ll make an impact.
