Baseball: Money starting to flow to draft choices

Players taken in this month’s amateur baseball draft have begun to reach agreement on signing bonuses.
According to Baseball America, among the local players who have signed include Yucaipa third baseman Matt Davidson, who received $900,000 as the 35th pick overall by the Arizona Diamondbacks; Temecula Valley pitcher Brooks Pounders, who signed for $670,000 as the No. 53 pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates, and former Agoura and USC catcher Robert Stock, who received $525,000 as the No. 67 pick overall by the St. Louis Cardinals.
Murrieta Valley catcher Cameron Garfield signed for $492,200 as the No. 74 pick of the Milwaukee Brewers and Sherman Oaks Notre Dame outfielder Kelly Dugan received $485,000 as the No. 75 pick by the Philadelphia Phillies.
