Twenty-four hours from now, it may not matter.
But Claremont’s Kori Carter did not exactly look like someone who had run the fastest times in the nation this year in two events tonight in her preliminary heats at the state track meet.
Carter holds the fastest times in the girls’ 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles but won neither; Etiwanda senior Monisha Davis won the former event in 13.59 seconds and Perris’ Ericka Nowell won the latter in 42.20.
Carter finished second in the 100 hurdles in 13.99 and fourth in the 300 hurdles in 43.68. Was she conserving energy for the championships or just off her game?
Guess we’ll have to wait until Saturday to know the answer.
