Andi Murez of Venice is proof that anything boys can do, girls can do just as well.

The Stanford-bound senior cruised to a City finals record in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.63, equaling the winning time in the boys race swum minutes later by Gondos teammate George Sun. Murez eclipsed the old standard of 50.79, set in 1999 by Amy Jones of Cleveland, by 1.16 seconds. Taft’s Chelsea Lim was second, more than five seconds behind Murez.

Murez broke Jones’ 200 freestyle record earlier in the day. She also holds section records in the 100 butterfly (57.40), which she set as a sophomore in 2007, and 100 backstroke (57.48), set last year.
