Lake Forest El Toro holds a 10-1 lead over Wellington (Fla.) Palm Beach Central in the sixth inning of a semifinal game of the Anderson Bat National Classic at Cal State Fullerton.
There have been two standouts for the Chargers. Nolan Arenado, who usually plays shortstop, has limited Central to three hits in a stunning pitching performance. And Chris Manning contributed the big hit of the game, a grand slam over the right-field fence in the third inning.
If El Toro advances, it will play the winner of the Mater Dei-Esperanza game on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Fullerton for the championship.
