The firing of Kentucky basketball Coach Billy Gillispie today raises the question of whether Encino Crespi freshman Michael Avery will still have a scholarship awaiting him in 2012. He committed to Kentucky and Gillispie as an eighth-grader.
Howard Avery, Michael’s father, said Gillispie’s dismissal would not change anything.
‘Everything I know, they’re committed and we’re committed,’ said the elder Avery, who will wait to talk with Kentucky’s athletic director and new coach.
Michael Avery averaged almost 10 points a game for Crespi this season.
