Fremont is a lot closer to full strength this week -- on the court and along the sideline.
Veteran Coach Sam Sullivan has returned after being hospitalized for three days last week with walking pneumonia, and star forward Tony Freeland, pictured, is back from an ankle injury that forced him to miss nine games.
In his first game back, Freeland scored 26 points against Dorsey during a one-point loss. The 6-foot-6 senior was averaging 24 points and 12 rebounds per game when he was injured in late December.
Sullivan said he had never experienced anything like the pneumonia that forced his assistants to temporarily handle the coaching duties.
‘I always come down with the flu, but this was something that almost knocked me out,’ said Sullivan, who has regained most of his strength.
Fremont (13-7 overall, 6-2 Coliseum League) plays host to Locke on Wednesday and Crenshaw on Friday.
