Football: Orange Lutheran’s unsung weapon

Orange Lutheran has advanced to the Pac-5 Division semifinals with lots of players contributing, but one of the most valuable has been junior kicker Parker Flynn.
All five of his kickoffs last week against Sherman Oaks Notre Dame went into the end zone. That’s an unsung weapon. It helps the defense and avoids a potential kickoff return for a touchdown.
He also had a field goal. Remember, it was his 43-yard field goal with two seconds left that beat Mater Dei in the Trinity League.
Lutheran plays Tesoro on Saturday at Santa Ana Bowl, with the winner advancing to next Saturday’s final at Angel Stadium. Flynn has established himelf as one of the top kicking prospects for 2009.
