It wasn’t an A performance, and barely deserves a C, but Los Angeles Windward defeated Morningside, 59-52, in a first-round game of the Westchester tournament Tuesday.
Windward missed a lot of free throws and committed lots of turnovers. Sophomore Wesley Saunders led the way with 15 points. Justin Rice scored 20 points for Morningside.
By winning, Windward advances to a quarterfinal game Thursday at 6 p.m., with the host Comets the likely opponent. That’s when we’ll find out if Windward can compete with the big boys.
