There wasn’t much Shannon Sharpe could do except sit and watch as Division I scouts from all across the country made their way to the Southland over the past couple of years to recruit high-profile point guards such as Brandon Jennings and Jrue Holiday, along with Jerime Anderson and Larry Drew.
All the while, Sharpe remained patient, hoping his time would eventually come. And following a senior season in which he averaged 17.9 points, 7.9 rebounds, 7.7 assists and 3.2 steals per game for Corona Centennial, it appears that time has come for the unsigned 6-foot floor general.
Fresno State and Pepperdine are the front-runners at this stage, and according to these quotes, plans are in the works for an official visit or two. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Cal State Northridge, Montana State and New Orleans are among the other colleges with offers for Sharpe, who could make a decision sooner rather than later.
