In an event in which many of the top marks were wind-aided, Amanda Hunter of Marlborough uncorked a legal -- and lethal -- triple jump of 40 feet 9 3/4 inches at the Southern Section-Toyota Championships at Mt. SAC on Saturday.

Hunter’s mark was the best of the day as she won the Division IV title. Her previous best, which was sixth-best in the state, was 39-11.

The next-closest mark Saturday was that of Division III champion Karynn Dunn of Diamond Ranch, who jumped 40-1 3/4 with a wind of 2.5 meters per second behind her. A wind of 2.0 mps or less makes it a legal mark.

Other champions were freshman Melia Cox of Long Beach Poly in Division I and Ashley Perkins of Norco in Division II.
