Football: Stanford could be site for next state bowl games

There’s growing speculation among administrators that Stanford’s football stadium has become the favorite to land the CIF state bowl games this fall.

Home Depot Center in Carson hosted the first two seasons of bowl games and applied to host this year’s group of five games scheduled for the weekend of Dec. 20.

But Stanford, which renovated its stadium in 2006, has strong support. No decision is expected to be announced until the end of the month.

One person who would be happy if Stanford were chosen is CIF spokeswoman Emmy Zack. She lives eight miles from the Palo Alto campus.
