Girls’ volleyball: Mira Costa teammates share Division I MVP honors

Kendall Bateman and Falyn Fonoimoana of Mira Costa were selected co-players of the year in Southern Section Division I girls’ volleyball in a vote of coaches, the CIF announced. Mira Costa’s Lisa Zimmerman and Harvard-Westlake’s Adam Black were named co-coaches of the year.

In Division II, Dana Hutchinson of Laguna Beach and Ilyanna Hernandez of North Torrance were named co-MVPs and Tricia Vansant of Redlands East Valley was named coach of the year.

Lauren Herrick of Cypress and Rachel Taylor of Village Christian shared player of the year honors in Division III. Village Christian’s Robert Blaken and Cypress’ Heather Dillard were that division’s co-coaches of the year.

Mayfield’s Susan Carlson was player of the year in Division IV while her coach, Ernest Banaag, shared coach of the year honors with Calvary Murrieta’s Paul Amoy.

Lilla Frederick of Connelly and California Lutheran’s Bree Rauschenbach were co-MVPs in Division V. Dani Raiser of California Lutheran and Misty Sano of Coastal Christian were co-coaches of the year.
