Last impressions rarely should be lasting ones. But after watching that 31-point beatdown the Fairfax boy’ basketball team put on Palisades, 78-47, tonight/Tuesday, the Lions have left a strong impression on me.
If Fairfax runs the table in the Western League, I think it deserves to be the top- seeded team in the City playoffs.
Yes, Taft fans, your Toreadors will have a very good argument to be No. 1 come seeding time. But even if they go unbeaten in the West Valley League, beating Cleveland and Granada Hills twice is not the same as beating Palisades and Westchester twice. And both teams have played a strong nonleague schedule, so that’s a wash.
The Lions have swept Palisades and will meet Westchester again on on Feb. 6 at Loyola Marymount.
If they beat the Comets -- along with everyone else in the Western League -- how can you not make Fairfax No. 1?
