Girls’ basketball: Who should be seeded No. 1 for City playoffs

There is little doubt that Narbonne and Chatsworth are the City’s top two girls’ basketball teams. There is a good chance both will finish league play unbeaten, although Narbonne (21-3, 8-0) still has a tough Marine League road game against Washington, and Chatsworth (17-5, 6-0) has one more engagement against West Valley foe Taft.
So, assuming both teams get through league unscathed, who should be the top seeded team for the Championship Division playoffs?
I don’t have a vote, but if I did, with all things being equal, I’d pick Narbonne. It’s my feeling the Gauchos, who have won 14 straight after defeating San Pedro on Monday, have played the tougher nonleague schedule. None of their three losses are to California teams.
Chatsworth, on the other hand, has lost to Cajon twice, Bishop Montgomery, Lynwood, and, most recently, Magnolia. There’s no shame in any of those defeats. But it makes you wonder if the Chancellors, in a pressure game, can match up against the good teams.
That’s a question only the playoffs can answer.
